3 months into SugarKubes

I started a container marketplace called SugarKubes. The idea is you can buy and sell docker containers and code. People do this with website designs, assets, and full themes and charge around $10 — $50 per asset. I thought it would be cool to do this for Docker containers and make it simple for people to deploy them.

3 months in. I know it’s been 3 months because my free SSL cert expired and they only last 3 months. I thought marketing to developers would be simpler than to non-technical people and in some ways it is but so far nobody has pulled out their wallet.

Total Traffic: just over 1,000

Total Signups: 28

What has been working :

There’s not a ton of engagement (comments, etc), but it’s a start. Every once in a while an article picks up on hacker news and gets a couple of hundred views.

This translates into a few site visitors and ultimately a few signups.

So for every 2–3k medium visits I get about 200–300 site visits and have about 28 users that signed up.

The problem now is zero sales. I figure it's one of two things. One, the docker containers listed are not valuable. Or two, it’s just too few users to know for sure yet.

The other bulk of the traffic comes from emailing people using mixmax. I set up about 25 emails per day and schedule them all on a Sunday to flow out evenly over the week. so roughly 100 cold emails per week.
