Avoiding being consumed by the ignorant

Once you have achieved enlightenment – once you have experience first hand that you are not the mind and body, and that you are grasping on to these false ideas of self by choice – you then re-enter the matrix with levels of detachment towards the mundane that are uncommon. You can now tolerate all kinds of apparent boredom because you are constantly rejoicing in the self. But you are now faced with a new problem.

The the new problem is that un-enlightened people will try to take advantage of your detachment by engaging you in services that help them achieve their flickering goals; their ever changing mundane desires. This causes unwholesome results because enlightened people should be working for the eternal benefit of others and not be simply engaged in mindless donkey seva for greedy persons playing the game of kings and queens.

So, how do we solve this?

The way to avoid being consumed by the endless material thirst of others is to be sure of what your goals are, to make plans for yourself and follow them. That way you put a limit on the time and energy wasting caused by others.

This doesn’t mean you must completely avoid others who aren’t focused on enlightenment. It just means that you are mindful about where your focus is pointed so that you don’t have to live with the regret of accepting the default of mediocrity caused by being pulled around by others who saw you had no concerns.
