Passing Optional Parameters Using an API in WSO2 ESB

When working with WSO2 ESB, sometimes it is required to retrieve information from the back-end service according to the parameters that are passed with the API call. The back-end returns the information related to the passed parameters by reading a database.

According to my experience, using multiple resources in the api with uri-template is the best approach for this than filtering the request using the filter module.

An example scenario is mentioned below.

Lets say we need to retrieve data from the back-end by sending the following requests via a API in the ESB.

In this, I have used the below mentioned data service in the WSO2 DSS and all the information are stored there. Keep in mind that we can use WSO2 DSS as a standalone server or else add DSS as a feature to in the WSO2 AS.

In order to retrieve data from the data service, we need to implement the API in ESB as below.
