The Fabric of Universe

Since young age I was interested in human behavior, wondering what makes us tick and why we make certain decisions or choose certain paths. Most of us have a habit of observing and judging other…

Losing Touch With Nature

Terry tempest smith was connected to nature by her grandmother they would go and collect shells. Her grandma taught her to love nature, her grandma was her biggest influence. I was influenced heavily by my grandpa when it comes to my perspective on nature. I believe our grandparents play a huge role in shaping our ideologies.

When we talk about eco tragedies we take the human element out of those tragedies, we do not blame humans for these tragedies. We do not hold each other accountable for the things we do in nature. It is like humans get a free pass to walk all over and destroy nature and no one is going to call them out. For example the fires in the Amazon everyone freaked out and worried about what was happening, but we never heard who or what caused those fires in the first place. No one wants to be called out on there mistakes so no one does it and people get away with disprecting nature. “attributing humanity’s disregard for Nature to desires like the lust for power and concluding that,”-Ted Nordhaus. We view nature as a resource that is there for our own personal use. I was always told to not disturb nature and respect nature, I still try my best to not disturb nature and treat it with respect. I grew up in a small town surrounded by nature me and my friends would love to go explore, but we would find peoples trash they basically would use our forests around the town as places to dump their trash, and of course they had signs put up saying dumping was prohibited, but it did not affect anyone who was dumping their trash out there. We rarely think of the negative consequences that our actions have. It is kind of weird to me how easy it is for us to destroy nature and not feel remorse. We have been desensitized to destroying nature. We need to change this we just use nature for our own gain and it is at the expense of nature, we are destroying it.

The stone creek woman connected her with nature, it helped her feel connected to nature. Terry Tempest Williams shares these stories about these folktales about connecting with nature. All these stories help people to connect with nature. I think we need more stories out there that can help people to connect with nature. I believe that if we can get people to appreciate these stories then we will be able to better help nature. Kids these days they have trouble connecting with nature, because we do not educate people on nature so they get stuck in these beliefs that nature is scary. We need to get the younger generation into nature and let them explore and fun otherwise we will not have anyone to defend nature.
