A Dream About a Girl I Used To Know

Last night I had a dream about a girl I used to know. She was so beautiful. Dressed all in black, with her hair down. A brunette. Latina. Medium/Fair skin tone. Deep voice. I couldn’t resist.

We talked. I kissed her on the cheek. I was dressed up too, all in black and white. We were finally together. Together as in, dating. It’s funny how dreams have a way of doing that for us. Putting everything together.

Flashback. You see, she was 18. I was 26. The year was about 2005. We were in a singing class together. A voice class. She was a music major. I was a biology major and taking the class for fun. There was an instant attraction. She was so pretty. She always had a few guys around. Who all wanted to date her.

I made fun of her for that. For having guys around all the time. She didn’t care. She liked me too. But nothing ever happened between us. We never got together. We never went on a date. We never really kissed. We didn’t hold hands.

It makes me wonder, what happened? Why didn’t those things happen, especially for a pure love? There was nothing wrong with that love. It was perfect, dammit! It was supposed to happen, and it didn’t!

We were attending Cal State University Dominguez Hills. And for one semester, nothing happened. I saw her in piano class as well for a semester after that singing class, but it wasn't the same. She said on the other side, as I did too.

She has the voice of an angel. Everyone voted that she could make it big as a singer. I wonder whatever happened to her and her voice. What did she do? Where did she go? Does she still live in Wilmington, Ca? I’d really like to know. Her last name escapes me.

Is her name still…Jacquie?
