December 2021 and the Beginning of My Fight With COVID

Photo highlights of the events before and after getting COVID

December began peacefully enough. I started the month with gathering photos to fit Flickr themes and doing a photo walk to confirm some mapping I had done on some Flickr photos.

Three days later on Thursday December 9, I had a dentist appointment to get a new crown, but it didn’t fit properly and we had to make a new impression and put the old temporary back on until I could get a properly made new crown on December 23. This was my view from the dentist’s chair. If you’ve seen previous shots of this view, you might notice the vine is no longer the dense green of spring and summer. You can tell winter has come.

I mention the dentist visit because it was very stressful. I believe the stress might have done a number on my immune system, which is normally pretty strong. After the visit, I walked the neighborhood again, looking for more Flickr photos to use. One is the lead photo of the mural on the garage door.

On December 10, I went shopping and afterward did another short photoshoot. I discovered a street I never knew existed and some interesting homes and yards.

I met a man named Toby who was having a tent sale. I listened as he told me about his neighborhood, which was in an older part of town. I learned a lot that day.

We have had many rainy days here in Paso Robles in December. These have helped bring back the gazanias the gophers had been destroying all summer. I keep wondering why all the regular feline visitors I’ve seen near the gopher holes haven’t destroyed the gophers.
